I grew up in the small Northern Michigan town of Cheboygan.  I married my high school sweetheart just before our 19th birthdays.  During a visit by her sister and brother-in-law, she exposed me to fishing for the first time.  With an old fishing rod salvaged from her mother's rusty shed, I hooked my first fish ever...a very small rock bass near the Black River Dam.  I was literally hooked.  When I felt the fish action through the line, it was like a spiritual awakening.  I was obsessed, and much to my wife's chagrin, I began acquiring my  huge collection of fishing equipment and supplies.  I worked my way from an aluminum Bass Tracker the year my son was born to my dream boat, a Ranger 522, the year my twin daughters turned 18 and found out they earned free college.

During the 30 years following my marriage, there were many changes in my life, but my love of fishing never diminished.  Our three children grew up, graduated from college with lucrative degrees, and started their own lives.  With the backing and support of the best wife any man could have, who told me it was time to pursue my dream,  within the relatively short period of six months, I signed up for Sea School in Clearwater, passed the Coast Guard test to become a licensed boat captain, and relocated to Clewiston, to begin fishing exclusively out of Roland Martin Marina.  I chose my current location because after fishing the greatest small mouth bass fisheries in the country, the Great Lakes, I wanted to spend my time on the greatest large mouth fishery, which is Lake Okeechobee.  The greatest part is the waters of Lake Okeechobee do not get hard during the winter months so I can fish every day!  There is nothing better than my ride down the rim canal to my office every morning.  I still can't believe I get to awaken to the view of palm tree shadows through my window blinds.  I have truly been blessed!
